The art of being perceived.
Being perceived can be terrifying, especially in this new age of technology & outspokenness where everyone has a level of access to you, and scrunity is at an all-time high. It can feel as if you are under a microscope, under the mercy of everyone else’s judgements where your weaknesses and your biggest insecurities are being exposed.
Black women in particular have a fear of being perceived that causes extreme anxiety. And more often than not, are stereotyped as intimidating when wer’re simply existing in our natural state. Anxiety in black women can look like irriatiton or an attitude from the outside lookin in, but in actuality we are overwhelmed and overstimulated. That can make us want to hide and/or retreat into the comfort of wearing a mask; a defense mechanish to protect ourselves.
Things to remember:
-You deserve to be seen
-You are your biggest critic
-Try to release the fear of looking stupid, failure is apart of evolution and perfection is overrated
-Stop comparing yourself to others
-Have outlets and explore new hobbies that allow you to “play”
-It’s a process; you are own one big journey unqiue onto you
