During certain seasons, when there isn’t a lot of direct sunlight, your serotonin levels can drop. This can negatively affect your mood and increase depression triggered by those seasonal transitions. We call this SAD. The proper amount of sun exposure is necessary for black women and has the ability to reduce depression, boost your mood, and give you the benefits of vitamin D as it absorbs into the skin. Just spending 15-30 minutes outside on a nice day, 2-3 times out the week, can do wonders for your physical and mental health.
